My friends Helene and Mads, being their good selves and sending me and Klara this amazing song that they wrote in their kitchen in Edinburgh yesterday, with the help of gin and tonic (you can’t write songs without). I think Ryan Gosling is just meant as an extra treat.

My friends work at the local cinema. They sent me this today. Bless them.
There is an assumption in Western philosophy that man is the arbiter of identity and the founding subject of culture. Derrida calls this assumption phallocentrism. It functions to exclude women from the discourse even as they stand within it. Further it allows other groups which also stand at the margins to be identified with women, the metaphorical others. And it presumes that the universal norm for the culture is male.
